Labradorite is my favourite crystal and the one I am most attracted to. At first glance, it is a seemingly uninteresting grey Feldspar stone, but turn it carefully and allow the light to hit it, and the crystal is transformed as if lit from within by a fluorescent light! Iridescent flashes of blue, green and yellow caused by the refraction of light make it look as though it is a fossilized butterfly wing enclosed in stone. Its origin is Canada, although it is now found in Australia, Italy, Greenland, Finland, Russia & Scandinavia.
Labradorite is the Magician’s stone, often referred to as Merlin’s stone or the dark side of the moon. It shatters illusion and assists us in discovering our destiny, promoting feelings of self worth with regards to our strengths and abilities. It relieves insecurities and fears about our personal value in this world, strengthening our faith in ourselves and the Universe. It is a highly mystical and protective stone.
This a crystal which expands our consciousness and enables us to shift our awareness to different dimensions. It increases and enhances our intuition, enabling initiation into the mysteries of the Universe. The flashes of light reveal our true destiny and our path in life. The stone facilitates the art of “right timing”; and brings messages from the unconscious mind to the surface so that we can understand them.
A great enhancer of mental abilities, Labradorite is a stone for those who are overworked and stretched, due to it’s abilities to clear the mind of conflict and scattered thoughts. It goes right to the root of a matter revealing the real intention behind thoughts and actions. It assists us in regaining energy and patience, and helps the body and spirit to heal themselves. A dreamers stone, it helps us release personal limitations which, after all, are our own illusion and it helps us achieve our seemingly impossible dreams. It promotes courage and helps us turn our dreams into successful realities. Labradorite encourages the wise use of our power, and increases our psychic abilities. It strengthens our visualisation and creative powers in order to create a positive future. The reflective shield protects the wearer’s aura from energy leakages. It helps us to gracefully accept the moods of others without judgement or letting them affect us.
On a physical level, Labradorite is said to treats colds, eye problems and manage and control our metabolism to facilitate weight loss. It induces peaceful sleep on one side and fires up the imagination on the other. It is also believed to relieve menstrual pain and lower blood pressure. On a numerology level, Labradorite vibrates to the numbers 6 and 7.
Labradorite is not difficult to find and should be available in most crystal shops. It makes a beautiful ornament, paperweight or piece of jewellery and will add magic to your crystal collection.
